In this Punic house in Carthage a similar cistern was found to the deposit in the triangular patio house. The North African cistern possessed a cover of flagstone, different from the one at Tossal de Manises, which was covered in beams of wood upon which sat the floor of the main room.

In the 2nd centuryBC, thecitywasabandoned. The cistern stands as testament, as during the excavation over 2 meters of silt and sand buildup were uncovered, indicating that it was not maintained with regular cleanings.
