The Roman Villa of La Agualeja (Monforte del Cid, Alicante), discovered in 1995, occupies a privileged location in the Vinalopó Valley next to the Via Avgvsta. Its excavation and that of other nearby sites make it possible to trace human activity in these fertile lands for a thousand years, from the 5th century BC to the 5th century AD.
