The MARQ is an archaeological museum that is committed to the renovation of the traditional exhibition system, understood as a collection of correctly classified and catalogued finds. MARQ is a project conceived and developed from the challenge of being the first archaeological museum of the 21st century.

A journey through history



The past of a people, in the origins of which different civilisations succeeded each other, is a defining factor in its evolution and configuration, and this is what we must transmit to all those who come to MARQ.

The new Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alacant is very interesting from a didactic point of view and at the same time fun, rigorous and spectacular.

The Museum also offers the possibility of getting to know the archaeological method. In three rooms, the Sala d'Arqueologia de Camp, the Sala d'Arqueologia Urbana and the Sala d'Arqueologia Subaquàtica, there are scenographies, audiovisuals and interactive displays that allow visitors to learn about the techniques used by archaeologists to discover the past and offer valuable information displayed in an attractive and didactic way.

In addition, the Museum has exhibition spaces for temporary exhibitions and the necessary facilities to carry out research, conservation, restoration, cataloguing and cataloguing work. divulgació.

The different thematic areas offer visitors the opportunity to take an exciting journey through history. The Museum takes the visitor and places them in the geographical area of Alacant, where the rich and varied landscape and monuments of this land are on display. From'here begins the historical journey through the permanent rooms of prehistory, Iberian culture, Roman culture, the Middle Ages and modern and contemporary times.
