MOTLE DE FOSSA DE DESTRAL
Penya Negra (Crevillent)
Stoneware
h: 16.7 cm; a: 8.3 cm; e: 4.3 cm
Bronze final
800-550 BC
This piece -incomplete in reality as it would have been part of a bivalve motle-, is used for the manufacture of a specific type of tool - side-appendix distemper- the approximate chronological context of which goes from 1100 to the 8th and 7th centuries BC. The type in question is very rare in the Llevantina area of the Iberian Peninsula and is more common in the Atlantic area with which the Penya Negra workshop has been linked.
