
The C.V. MARQ Foundation joins in the celebration of International Women's Day 2025 with a programme of activities, which places women in the spotlight from a historical perspective.


This year's theme "For women and girls in ALL their diversity: Rights, equality and empowerment". represents a call to all of society to expand equal rights and opportunities for all, building a feminist future in which no one is left behind. Empowering the next generation is at the heart of the 2025 theme: youth, especially girls, adolescent girls and young women, will be at the centre of lasting change.
Visitors to MARQ will be able to learn about the role played by women throughout history, by means of a Interactive QR with questions that will take them through the different rooms of the Museum's permanent collection, focusing on women. In addition, the Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit of the C.V. MARQ Foundation has designed a complete Programme of Activities with the following calendar:

At the General University Hospital of Alicante
11:00 a 12:00: "OCU TalentThe aim of this activity is to show what daily life would have been like in prehistoric times. One of the objectives is to promote values about women's work and the importance of women in the development of our societies.
The workshop has been included in the project "A fairytale hospital". that the Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation carries out with the Hospital Pedagogical Unit of the Hospital General Universitario de Alicante Doctor Balmis for children with long hospital stays.
In the Alicante Penitentiary Centre
11:00 to 12:00 h: Talk on Gender Archaeology. Gender archaeology and women's studies are increasingly gaining prominence in the landscape of historical and social disciplines, providing alternative approaches and readings of women's historical experience.
Talk to be held as part of the project "Coming back with a new story". that the Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation is carrying out with the Alicante Penitentiary Centre.
In the APSA-Alicante Training Centre
9:30 a 11:30h: Talk "The women in Roman times "where we will talk about the role of women in Roman society.
This talk will take place as part of the project "History without barriers. MARQ-APSA". that the Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation is carrying out with APSA.

11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Talk on Gender Archaeology. "Medieval Queens". where we will take a short tour of some of the most important queens of that era.
This activity will take place in the MARQ's Meeting Room as part of the project "MARQ + 65". that the Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation is carrying out with Aulas de la Tercera Edad (ASAUTE) of Alicante.

11:00 - 12:30 h: Vlively visit to the Prehistory room and workshop "Cave painting".. Participants will be able to find out what daily life was like in prehistoric times with our friend Cavernus. During the activity we will focus on showing the importance of women in the development of our societies. We will continue with an educational workshop on cave painting.
Free activity for families with children aged 5 to 10 years old. Registration can be made by telephone and/or at the MARQ ticket offices, until full capacity is reached.
17:30 - 19:00 h: Animated tour of the MARQ galleries. This activity will bring us closer to the history of women in society. In each of the museum's rooms we will be welcomed by a woman from that period in history, who will tell us about her customs in first person. We will continue with a didactic workshop.
