It forms part of the coastal defence system that was in operation between the 16th and 19th centuries. At<br \/>2011 the Alf\u00e0s del Pi Town Council carried out a project to excavate and consolidate the tower, with the aim of stopping<br \/>the process of degradation to which the structure was subjected. It was in a very poor state of preservation, as only<br \/>The lower plinth is preserved. However, the archaeological intervention provided the floor plan of the structure and<br \/>sufficient data to know its architectural characteristics.
