MARQ archaeologist Juan Antonio L\u00f3pez Padilla was recognised as a new corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute at a ceremony held at the University of Lisbon on 24 February.<\/p>\n
L\u00f3pez Padilla<\/strong>The archaeology technician of the MARQ, Archaeological Museum of Alicante, received the certificate from the director of the institution, Paul Scheding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This renowned institute, which is part of the German Foreign Office, is considered one of the most important research centres in Europe, and has been closely linked to Spanish archaeology since 1943, when it opened its headquarters in Madrid. Since then, it has carried out important research work in collaboration with institutions and academics in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, covering periods ranging from the Palaeolithic to the Early Middle Ages.<\/p>\n L\u00f3pez Padilla's appointment recognises his extensive research career, particularly in the study of the Bronze Age<\/strong> and, more specifically, in the Culture of El Argar<\/strong>. This work has been carried out within the framework of MARQ's archaeological excavation and research projects, funded by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante. The institute has highlighted its research at several Argaric sites in Alicante, such as Cabezo Pardo (San Isidro\/Granja de Rocamora), Laderas del Castillo (Callosa de Segura) and San Ant\u00f3n (Orihuela)<\/strong>as well as his extensive scientific production and archaeological dissemination. In the latter section, the curatorship of the recent international exhibition \"Dynasties.
