The MARQ, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante, is holding an open day this weekend to commemorate the opening of the temporary exhibition Cities of Light. \u00c1kra Leuk\u00e9, Lvcentvm, Laqant and to encourage locals and visitors to visit the exhibition.
The President of the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante will inaugurate Cities of Light on Friday 20 December at 12 noon and from 3 p.m. the exhibition can be visited free of charge during the afternoon of Friday until 7 p.m.; on Saturday 21 December from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday 22 December from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with access to the rooms until one hour before the museum doors close.
The exhibition Cities of Light. \u00c1kra Leuk\u00e9, Lvcentvm, Laqant offers visitors more than 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, produced in-house, which proposes a temporal journey that describes the succession of ancient cities in the Albufereta area of Alicante, using the archaeological site of Tossal de Manises as the backbone. Owned by the Provincial Council of Alicante, it has been the object of research, restoration, enhancement, protection and dissemination, and has been transformed into a socialised space open to the public.<\/p>\n
Cities of Light. \u00c1kra Leuk\u00e9, Lucentum, Laqant is an exhibition promoted by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante through the MARQ Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico de Alicante and the Fundaci\u00f3n C.V. MARQ, with the collaboration of 30 Spanish cultural entities including museums, archives and foundations, which have lent their materials to facilitate the contextualisation and understanding of the subject matter.<\/p>\n
Curated by Manuel H. Olcina Dom\u00e9nech, director of the MARQ; Rafael P\u00e9rez Jim\u00e9nez, director of the Department of Architecture of the Alicante Provincial Council and the excavation technicians of the Fundaci\u00f3n C.V. MARQ, Antonio Guilabert Mas and Eva Tendero Porras, it can be visited in the temporary galleries and library of the MARQ until 18 May 2025.<\/p>\n
