Today and tomorrow the MARQ is hosting a series of international conferences<\/strong> in which experts from China and Europe<\/strong> will analyse the latest scientific breakthroughs on the Xi'an Warriors<\/strong>. Archaeologists, historians, museologists and researchers will share the most recent discoveries in the field and in the laboratory and will also debate on the legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties in later centuries<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Deputy for Culture, <\/span>Juan de Dios Navarro<\/span><\/strong>was in charge of inaugurating this conclave organised by the area that he directs, together with the Fundaci\u00f3n CV MARQ, and which represents the <\/span>first public presentation in Spain<\/span><\/strong> of the most recent discoveries on the subject. The museum's Assembly Hall is the setting for the extensive programme of activities which, under the name of '.<\/span>The warriors of Xi'an and their legacy: science and archaeology<\/span>'<\/span>, <\/span>intends <\/span>answer and uncover questions related to the burial complex of China's first emperor<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This <\/span>archaeological site<\/span><\/strong> and its <\/span>terracotta army<\/span><\/strong>considered one of the most important in the world, <\/span>was discovered almost 50 years ago by chance<\/span><\/strong>a fact that started<\/span> one of the <\/span>most ambitious and cutting-edge research projects in history<\/span><\/strong> of archaeology.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The scientific conference to be held on 7 and 8 September at the MARQ will focus on answering questions related to this transcendental discovery for humanity, such as <\/span>why these warriors are so important<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>how the mausoleum was built<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>what is known about its builders<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>in addition to the <\/span>methods used<\/span><\/strong> by experts to answer new questions and <\/span>analysing the legacy received<\/span><\/strong> more than two thousand years ago<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Address<\/span>o<\/span> by the archaeologist <\/span>Marcos Martin\u00f3n-Torres<\/span><\/strong>Professor at the University of Cambridge and curator of the<\/span> sample<\/span>the meeting includes <\/span>a conference and a guided tour<\/span><\/strong> by him to the<\/span> sample<\/span>. <\/span>This action is part of the programme of activities <\/span>complementary provisions in the contextualisation of the exhibition <\/span>'<\/span>The legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties, China. The warriors of Xi'an<\/span>'<\/span>which <\/span>currently on display at the Alicante museum, <\/span>churning <\/span>record number of visits<\/span><\/strong>.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speakers include specialists from the following fields <\/span>Museum of the<\/span><\/strong> Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang<\/span><\/strong>of the <\/span>Shaanxi History Museum<\/span><\/strong>of the <\/span>Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology<\/span><\/strong>of the <\/span>Cambridge University<\/span><\/strong> (United Kingdom), of the <\/span>Bavarian Archaeological Museum in Munich<\/span><\/strong> (Germany), and the <\/span>University of London<\/span><\/strong> (United Kingdom)<\/span>. All of them <\/span>will travel to Alicante for the first time and exclusively for this event.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
