The Almudaina Almohad Tower celebrates the 14th anniversary of its musealisation by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante and its opening to the public on 14 August, and to celebrate it, the MARQ Foundation has organised an open day on Sunday 13 August, during which the following day will take place <\/span>the fortress can be visited free of charge, in its usual timetable from 9 am to 1 pm, with a guided tour also totally free, at 11 am.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Almudaina Almohad Tower is an Asset of Cultural Interest with the category of Monument. A \"site museum\" that introduces the visitor to the knowledge and enjoyment of its architecture and the landscape that surrounds it, but also to its history, which is the history of Almudaina. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This monument, which was opened to the public on 14 August 2009, dates from<\/span> Islamic period and formed part of the fortified enclosure of the existing small farmstead, known as \"al-Mudayyina\", the origin of the current name of the town of Almudaina. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Almudaina is located in the interior of the province of Alicante, in the mountainous region of El Comtat, 587 metres above sea level. It is an agricultural village with just over a hundred inhabitants, whose history is linked to this Islamic Almohad tower erected at an undetermined time in the first half of the 13th century, to defend its small farmhouse at the gates of the Christian conquest.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
