The Alicante Provincial Council<\/strong> has published the book <\/span><\/span>Alicante's castles and their intervention projects <\/span><\/span><\/em>which records the proceedings <\/em>from first seminar on fortifications in the province<\/strong> held in 2019.<\/span><\/span> The edition brings together the assessment by recognised experts<\/strong> on the long historical trajectory of actions, as well as the increase in investments, projects and strategies in our territory.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The First Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia Parra<\/strong>and the deputy for architecture, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Gonz\u00e1lez de Z\u00e1rate<\/strong>This morning, they presented the publication, which highlights the valuable heritage of the province,<\/span><\/span> one of the most important in the Iberian Peninsula due to its number - 250 fortifications -, quality and typological variety<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Julia Parra highlighted \"the scientific, academic and informative value of this new MARQ publication, which I am sure will attract the attention of history lovers\". The provincial head thanked the authors \"for their contribution to the cultural and heritage knowledge of the castles and fortifications of our territory, an example of how to join forces and work in a coordinated manner in the conservation, dissemination and enhancement of buildings that are a fundamental part of the story of our history\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For his part, the deputy for Architecture has assured that the Provincial Council has developed numerous lines of subsidies<\/strong> aimed at heritage preservation. \"Our aim is to help all municipalities\", he explained, while highlighting \"the new aid for historical heritage, initially endowed with 2.5 million euros, which may be extended depending on the demands and needs\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As an example of the policies developed, Gonz\u00e1lez de Z\u00e1rate mentioned that \"a 450,000 euro project has already been put out to tender to guarantee the permanence of the Castillo de Planes, an action that is fundamental to guarantee preservation in small municipalities with few resources\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The volume compiles 18 projects<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>scattered throughout Alicante,<\/span><\/span><\/span> some <\/strong>The aim of the project is to publicise this work by means of<\/span><\/span> The number of interventions has grown exponentially over the last few years.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event was also attended by the Professor of Architecture of the University of Alicante, Andr\u00e9s Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>the director of MARQ, Manuel Olcina<\/strong>The director of the Architecture Department of the Provincial Council, Rafael P\u00e9rez<\/strong>the MARQ archaeologist, Jos\u00e9 Luis Men\u00e9ndez<\/strong>and the managing director of the CV-MARQ Foundation, Jos\u00e9 Alberto Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
