Maz\u00f3n also highlighted the Alicante Provincial Council's commitment to culture during this term of office. \"The commitment to culture is not only an act of generosity or a concession to this area, but it is culture itself and our history that helps us decisively to revive the economy,\" said the president, who has insisted, in this regard, that such cultural projects \"are not an expense but an investment.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For her part, Julia Parra said during the inauguration that \"our museum reaches its 90th anniversary at its best moment in terms of prestige and, with 'Gladiators. Heroes of the Coliseum', it is once again the best host, an outstanding meeting place for cultures, a point of excellence in research and an essential place to visit\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Head of Culture highlighted the international trajectory of the exhibition, with destinations such as Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia and France. \"Now <\/span><\/span>for the first time he visits Spain and, as usual, and I say this with pride, Alicante is his meeting point with pieces that have never before been exhibited outside Italy and new contents.<\/span><\/span>\". These have been developed specifically for the MARQ exhibition, where there will be a prominent presence of audiovisual resources and adaptations for people with sensory difficulties.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Riccardo Guariglia confirmed the support of the Italian Embassy for this new exhibition \"which contributes to deepening bilateral relations between Spain and Italy\". On its content, he remarked that \"it presents with an innovative scientific approach the figure of the gladiator with all the nuances\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Under the curatorship of the former director of the Colosseum in Rome for more than 20 years, Dr. Rossella Rea<\/strong>In close collaboration with the technical teams of the Alicante museum, 'Gladiators' aims to illustrate the world of these fighters in its many complexities through a carefully selected exhibition of art objects and original pieces, but also through modern replicas and models.<\/strong>The exhibition will feature state-of-the-art interactive technology, graphics, scenography and other multimedia devices.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Among the new contents that for the first time accompany this exhibition, it is worth mentioning a special area where we talk about the women fighters<\/strong>as well as information on the games in Roman Hispania<\/strong> or of the graffiti found in Pompeii<\/strong>. There is also a section with reviews of the figure of this fighter in film, literature and modern art.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the proposal has been adapted to the space of the Museum in the broadest sense of the word and, in addition to having a new radio guide service<\/strong> for guided tours, for the first time in a museum in Spain, the Soocial\" positioning technology <\/strong>which allows a dynamic control of the capacity in real time, with a digital counter that will facilitate the analysis of movement and the routes chosen by visitors, which pieces have generated the most interest and the average length of stay. Julia Parra pointed out that \"this important advance, which will also be incorporated shortly in other national museums, puts us at the forefront of the technological vanguard\". <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The deputy also announced that, in parallel to the exhibition, the MARQ has scheduled an extensive programme of activities in collaboration with the association \"Hispania Romana\", among which are historical re-enactments <\/strong>both in the Museum gardens and at the Lucentum site, talks, workshops and dramatised tours<\/strong>.   <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition consists of about 140 original works<\/strong> belonging to eight provider centres: Rieti Civic Museum<\/strong>the Alda Levi Antiquarian Museum<\/strong> of Milan, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples<\/strong>the Diocletian Baths Museum in Rome<\/strong>the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia<\/strong>the Archaeological Park of Paestum<\/strong>the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum in Rome<\/strong> and the Sopraintendenza de Beni Culturali of Bologna<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Among the selection, the following stand out armament parts<\/strong>, surgical instruments<\/strong> or personal grooming<\/strong> and others related to their diet. Also on display are various carved stone pieces<\/strong> from some of the most important coliseums of the Roman world. The exhibition is accompanied by various mannequins that will show the public the most common types of gladiators, a large interactive model of the Colosseum of Rome, explanatory panels, audiovisuals and an important didactic project aimed at children who visit the MARQ from 13 April to 16 October 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
