The CV MARQ Foundation<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and Archaeological Museum of Alicante<\/strong> have organised a conference day<\/strong> in the framework of the exhibitions \"Etruscans. The dawn of Rome\" and \"Etruscan traces in Alicante\". Expert researchers from Spain and Italy<\/strong> will discuss this civilisation throughout the day.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The First Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia Parra<\/strong>He stressed that \"this conference, which complements the Etruscan exhibition, is once again an example of collaboration between countries in favour of culture and science\". He also thanked \"the participation of important researchers from museums and universities in Italy and Spain who will broaden knowledge and advances in archaeological research and more specifically on the Etruscan people and their influence in the Mediterranean basin\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The talks are divided into two sessions, in the morning and afternoon, in which leading specialists will offer a current overview of the significance of Etruscan society and culture in Western Mediterranean history<\/strong> and, in particular, its influence on trade and mercantile relations with the Iberian Peninsula, through the first contacts with the Phoenician and Greek colonies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The opening ceremony was attended by Jos\u00e9 Alberto Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>Managing Director of the MARQ Foundation, Manuel Olcina<\/strong>director of MARQ, Giuseppina Carlotta Cianferoni<\/strong>from the National Archaeological Museum of Florence, and Danilo Angelini<\/strong>Honorary Vice-Consul of Italy in Alicante.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Researchers attached to the University of Florence<\/strong>, to the National Archaeological Museum in Florence<\/strong>, al Vetulonia Museum<\/strong> or to the Soprintendenza di Archeologia di Pisa e Livorno<\/strong>In the morning session, they will discuss new developments in relation to aspects such as the role of women in Etruscan society, the historical context of the rise, rise and decline of Etruria and the importance of religion. This will be followed by a presentation on the role of women in Etruscan society, Jaime Vives-Ferr\u00e1ndiz<\/strong>from the Museum of Prehistory of Valencia, will talk about the consumption of wine and other Etruscan products in Iberian communities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The afternoon session is entirely dedicated to showcasing aspects related to the presence on Alicante soil of various objects of Etruscan provenance<\/strong>The main part of the exhibition will be related to the consumption of the Iberian elites, and directly or indirectly linked to Phoenician trade. For this purpose, leading specialists from the University of Alicante<\/strong>of the CV MARQ Foundation<\/strong>of the Prehistoric Museum of Valencia<\/strong> and of the MARQ<\/strong>.
