Visits to the<\/span><\/span><\/strong> Interpretation Centre<\/strong> and to the site of the<\/strong> Cova de l'Or<\/strong>, at<\/strong> Beniarr\u00e9s<\/strong>managed from the MARQ<\/strong> in collaboration with the town council, resume this weekend<\/strong>on 11 and 12 September, by prior appointment through the <\/span><\/span>museum website<\/span><\/span><\/a> of the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante. The facilities will also be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for schools.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia Parra<\/strong>He thanked the Beniarr\u00e9s Town Council \"for all their collaboration and support in this project in which we are working hand in hand\" and expressed his satisfaction \"because once again the Alicante public and also our visitors will have the opportunity to take a suggestive route of cultural and scenic interest that begins at the Interpretation Centre located in the town centre of the town itself\".<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Cova de l'Or in Beniarr\u00e9s is open to the public. 675 metres above sea level <\/strong>on the southern slope of the reliefs that make up the Sierra del Benicadell mountain range. It contains a archaeological site of enormous importance<\/strong> for the knowledge and research of the Neolithic of the Mediterranean fa\u00e7ade of the Iberian Peninsula. The quality and significance of the archaeological material found in the excavations<\/strong> The results of research carried out since the 1930s suggest that the cave was a place of social reference for the settlers of Mediterranean origin who, in the mid-6th millennium BC, introduced agriculture and livestock farming into these valleys.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The site and the renovated Interpretation Centre were opened to the public for the first time on 11 June last and have received a total of 525 visitors until 27 June<\/strong>. This weekend it will reopen at the same time. 9:00 to 14:00 hours and 17:00 to 20:00 hours on Saturdays<\/strong>with departures in a vehicle to reach the area around the Cova de l'Or at 9:00, 11:30 and 17:00. On Sundays and public holidays the opening hours will be from 9:00 to 14:00.<\/strong> and departures will take place at 9:00 and 11:30.
