The first vice-president of the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante and deputy for Culture, <\/span><\/span>Julia Parra<\/span><\/span><\/strong>and the Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Community of Madrid, <\/span><\/span>Marta Rivera<\/span><\/span><\/strong>have inaugurated the exhibition '<\/span><\/span>Idols. Millennial Glances'. <\/span><\/span><\/strong>in the Regional Archaeological Museum of Madrid<\/strong> (MAR), the second venue for this exhibition, following its run in the <\/span><\/span>Archaeological Museum of Alicante<\/span><\/span><\/strong> (MARQ).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Julia Parra stressed during her speech \"the importance of this exhibition for its uniqueness and cultural importance and for being a clear example of what can be achieved thanks to institutional collaboration and teamwork developed by the archaeological museums of Alicante and Madrid\". The deputy for Culture also highlighted the good acceptance<\/strong> that it has had among the public. More than 29,000 people have been able to enjoy the exhibition first hand in Alicante and around 60,000 have followed her virtually<\/strong> through the MARQ website.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The MARQ and the MAR have joined forces to bring together <\/span><\/span>226 unique pieces from Spanish and Portuguese museums<\/span><\/span><\/strong> in a proposal that brings the public closer to the existence and meaning of idols, understood as genuine and schematic representations of the human body and face of diverse nature and form that are part of the symbolism of recent prehistory in the Iberian Peninsula. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Idols' can be visited <\/span><\/span>until 10 January 2021 in the temporary exhibition hall of the MAR <\/span><\/span><\/strong>which occupies the upper gallery of the cloister of the building located in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares. The exhibition is curated by <\/span><\/span>Primitiva Bueno<\/span><\/span><\/strong>Professor of Prehistory at the University of Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, and <\/span><\/span>Jorge A. Soler<\/span><\/span><\/strong>Director of Exhibitions and Curator of Prehistory at MARQ. The opening ceremony held this morning was also attended by the director of MARQ, <\/span><\/span>Enrique Baquedano<\/span><\/span><\/strong>the director of MARQ, <\/span><\/span>Manuel Olcina<\/span><\/span><\/strong>and the managing director of the MARQ Foundation, <\/span><\/span>Jos\u00e9 Alberto Cort\u00e9s<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The exhibition design and architecture has been directed by the architect <\/span><\/span>Angel Rocamora <\/span><\/span><\/strong>and graphic design by <\/span><\/span>Luis Sanz<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. The project is complemented by audio-visual resources, directed by <\/span><\/span>Gustavo V\u00edlchez<\/span><\/span><\/strong>The exhibition and the process of researching the idols are presented and their significance explained.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Idols.
