The good weather has encouraged the people of Alicante and all the tourists who have been in our city during these holidays to visit the MARQ, its sites and monuments during the open days on the 9th and 12th of October. On Wednesday, European Day of Cave Art and of the Valencian Community, the MARQ, its sites and monuments received a total of 993 people during its opening, while on the 12th of October 895 visitors came to our facilities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A total of 1,888 visitors were able to enjoy the permanent collection of the MARQ, the Interpretation Centre of Castell de Castells, the Tossal de Manises - Lucentum, <\/em>the Illeta dels Banyets and the Almudaina Almohad Tower. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The rooms that house the temporary exhibitions of MARQ are currently being refurbished and will reopen to the public in mid-January 2020 to house the exhibition Hidden Idols: Millennial Glances<\/em>, <\/em>an exhibition that aims to bring the public closer to the existence and meaning of the ideomorphic expressions on different supports that form part of the symbolism of the Neolithic and Chalcolithic groups of the Iberian Peninsula, with the collaboration of around 20 museum institutions in Spain and Portugal that will temporarily lend a careful selection of pieces for the exhibition. These unique and highly artistic images have aroused enormous interest and controversy in their interpretation. This project is being prepared jointly by the MARQ and the Regional Archaeological Museum of the Community of Madrid, MAR, based in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
