         Almost twenty years after the Archaeological Museum of Alicante left the Palacio de la Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante to move to the MARQ, luxury watches<\/a> the institution's prodigal son returns home.          During the course of the event, which began with the screening of a video reviewing the history of the museum, from its origins to the present day, S\u00e1nchez highlighted the cultural milestone that MARQ represents not only at a local and provincial level, but also internationally, having become \"an avant-garde, innovative, cutting-edge scientific museum, of which we Alicante residents feel very proud and which forms part of our history and our legacy\".  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

         The exhibition can be visited until 14 September<\/strong> and includes a careful selection of representative pieces<\/strong> which are currently housed in MARQ's rooms and which were part of the original project. A total of 12 jobs<\/strong> exposed in six showcases<\/strong>one for each historical period, make up this initiative that aims to recall the origins of the museum in the Provincial Palace and to explain its evolution.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

         The exhibition is accompanied by a large exhibition panel<\/strong> which addresses the two great historical periods of the museum<\/strong>In the 20th century, when it was located in the Provincial Palace, and in the 21st century, when it was moved to the old Provincial Hospital, now the MARQ. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

         Among the most outstanding pieces are the replica of the 'Lady of Elche' from Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Pinazo<\/strong>a copy of the original model, as well as the minutes of the Provincial Monuments Commission<\/strong>which is the document that mentions the purchase of this work for 225 pesetas in 1930.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Museum Anniversary<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

         Last year was the 85th anniversary of the proposal for a Provincial Archaeological Museum, which for nearly seven decades was located on the ground floor of the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante. In the year 2002 H.M. Queen Sof\u00eda<\/strong> officially inaugurated its new location in the city's Doctor G\u00f3mez Ulla square, giving way to the great exhibition successes achieved by the MARQ, recognised in 2004 as a Best European Museum of the Year<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

         Since then, the centre's archaeological legacy has continued to grow and today it is an avant-garde museum that has been visited by more than 60 temporary exhibitions<\/strong> -local, national and international- and close to 2.5 million visitors<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        His collaborations with major museums around the world, such as the British Museum<\/strong>the Hermitage<\/strong>the Louvre<\/strong>the one in the Sipan<\/strong> or the National Archaeological<\/strong> The exhibition proposals that the Alicante venue has hosted over the years are a testament to the high level of the exhibition proposals. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

           In addition, the province's parks and archaeological sites complete the impressive historical and cultural legacy of Alicante, which is the responsibility of the MARQ, with spaces such as the Pla de Petracos<\/strong>, Lucentum<\/strong>, La Illeta dels Banyets<\/strong>the Almudaina Tower<\/strong> or the Cava Gran de Agres<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New temporary exhibition <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

       During the event, the president of the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante announced that \"due to governmental reasons of international politics\" the inspection trip that was to be made by a delegation of the Provincial Council of Alicante has been postponed.
