     <\/span><\/span><\/strong>The MARQ<\/strong> this morning presented the new proposal for the exhibition space in the foyer, which already features the gothic capital of the Medieval Pobla de Ifach in Calp<\/strong>. It is one of the most important pieces of the extraordinary archaeological site<\/strong>found in 2016 <\/strong>by the museum's research team. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

   The President of the Diputaci<\/span><\/span>\u00f3n de Alicante, C\u00e9sar S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>The Provincial Council of Alicante, committed to the valuation and dissemination of the cultural heritage of the people of Alicante and their history, has been promoting for some time the creation of this type of exhibition that offers the public a detailed view of emblematic archaeological pieces that are preserved in the MARQ's collections.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

   La Pobla de Ifach is a <\/span>solid and consolidated project<\/span><\/strong> of the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante, whose research year after year yields important results that enrich our knowledge about the historical roots of the territory of Alicante<\/strong>. A town whose history is carved by the blow of stone carved at the end of the 13th century<\/strong> on the buildings and walls on the slopes of the Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Ifach. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

   During the 2016 excavation campaign<\/strong>MARQ's research team discovered a gothic capital with palms and central rosette<\/strong> which has become one of the key elements of the site. This type of element formed part of windows known as finestres<\/em> ab corves<\/em> which were located on the floors of buildings intended for the residence of the nobility or the local aristocracy. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The piece in question shows a maximum technical and artistic mastery. <\/strong>In Ifach these windows are found illuminating the first floor of a large building named Domus Ll\u00faria<\/strong>The building was located close to the access system to the interior of the medieval town, which had the dual function of serving as a domestic space<\/strong> and troop rest<\/strong> that defended the walls of the town, as well as of the residence of the members of the Casa de Ll\u00faria<\/strong> or administrators. Furthermore, these buildings were designed to defend the walled perimeter of the enclosure and for the inhabitants of Ifach to present their petitions and resolve their disputes before the authorities.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

     At the opening ceremony<\/span><\/span>The deputy for Culture also attended the meeting, C\u00e9sar Augusto Asencio<\/strong>the managing director of MARQ, Jos\u00e9 Alberto Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>the museum's technical director, Manuel Olcina<\/strong>and the Marq archaeologist, director of the excavations at the Pobla Medieval Pobla d'Ifach and curator of the exhibition, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Luis Men\u00e9ndez Fueyo<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
