This is how the sensational parade organised by the Provincial Government to promote the MARQ's international exhibition will begin next Wednesday, 24th May, <strong>\"Mayas. The enigma of the lost cities\".<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify;'>A retinue made up of <strong>twenty actors<\/strong> and <strong>ten musicians<\/strong> will travel through the main streets of Alicante, filling them with <strong>rhythm and colour<\/strong> to show the spectators and passers-by the <strong>idiosyncrasies<\/strong> of the Maya. Dressed in the typical garments, <strong>percussionists, flute players, priests and warriors<\/strong> will star in the <strong>rites and ceremonies<\/strong> of one of the most astonishing civilisations of mankind, which inhabited the <strong>Yucatan Peninsula<\/strong> and which MARQ is now making available to everyone thanks to the new exhibition adventure that opens on <strong>thursday 25 may<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify;'>Emulating the <strong>pyramids of Tikal<\/strong>the steps of the IES <strong>George John<\/strong> will be the starting point of the parade, which will begin at <strong>18:00 hours<\/strong> with the performance of a ritual of <strong>SUN WORSHIP<\/strong>. The warriors, characterised by <strong>clothing and make-up<\/strong> of its most representative animals, such as the jaguar or the ocelot, will then move towards the <strong>Plaza de los Luceros<\/strong> and they will walk with their entourage along the promenade of <strong>Federico Soto<\/strong>. There, at the height of the <strong>Plaza Calvo Sotelo<\/strong>The first of the dramatised performances will take place, a spectacular fight scene which will be repeated again, after a tour of <strong>Doctor Gadea<\/strong> and the <strong>Paseo de Canalejas<\/strong>in <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Esplanade<\/strong> at the height of the Auditorium of <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Concha<\/strong>where the procession will end this eye-catching parade.<\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify;'>The exhibition 'Mayas. The enigma of the Lost Cities' brings together an important collection of pieces from the <strong>National Museum of<\/strong> <strong>Archaeology and Ethnology of Guatemala<\/strong> (MUNAE) and two Guatemalan institutions, the <strong>Ruta Maya Foundation<\/strong> and the <strong>Neria Herrera Collection of the Museum Juan Antonio Vald\u00e9s<\/strong>. Many of the objects that will be on display in Alicante until <strong>7 January 2018<\/strong>never before exhibited in Spain. In addition to these, and as a complement, there are others from European venues of recognised prestige, such as the <strong>Museum of Ethnology Berlin<\/strong> or the <strong>Rautenstrauch Joest Museum Cologne<\/strong>.
