MARQ will put the finishing touch to the exhibition \"Vikings. Warriors of the North. Giants of the sea\", with a festive open day on Sunday 5 March, following the agreement reached in the Executive Committee at the proposal of its President, C\u00e9sar S\u00e1nchez, in a session held on Wednesday 1 March. The exhibition has been visited by more than 97,000 people since its inauguration on 19 May 2016.   <\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

There are 663 pieces on display for the first time outside Denmark, allowing us to discover the fascinating Viking Age in detail. U<\/span><\/span>n per<\/span>\u00ed<\/span><\/span>odo <\/span>spanning the 9th to 11th centuries, during which time Europe underwent major upheavals and upheavals. We often associate the image of the Vikings with colonisation, conquest and plunder, but a visit to the Marq exhibition shows that they were also a deeply religious, agricultural people, with a deeply rooted family structure, well organised, and who also promoted the development of navigation, trade, specialised crafts and communication networks between the cities in which they settled.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Vikings has ratified the Marq not only as one of the main cultural bets of Alicante but also as a quality tourist destination, at the service of all audiences regardless of their different abilities or knowledge. The interest aroused by the Viking civilisation led in December to a formal agreement between the National Museum of Denmark and the Marq, which made it possible for the exhibition to extend its stay in Alicante until 5 March, and from here it will travel to the Museo de la Marina in Lisbon (Portugal), where it can be visited from 12 April. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
