The MARQ <\/strong>highlights the history of the medieval building the Ma\u00e7anes Tower <\/strong>through a exhibition<\/strong> which collects the research and museumisation work<\/strong> that the Alicante Provincial Council<\/strong> has been carried out in this unique fortress. The works, carried out by the Architecture Department between 2010 and 2011, enabled the refurbishment and rehabilitation of this enclave dating from the Almohad period (12th-13th centuries).<\/p>\n Under the heading \"The Ma\u00e7anes Tower<\/strong>.An Islamic fortress<\/strong>\", <\/em>the exhibition is composed of a series of information boards<\/strong> which reproduce a prismatic object with the proportions of the fortification and explain to the visitor the origin<\/strong>,the story<\/strong> and architecture<\/strong> of this building that gave its name to the municipality of La Torre de les Ma\u00e7anes. The exhibition also includes a video<\/strong> with complementary information.<\/p>\n The Member of Parliament for Culture Juan Bautista Rosell\u00f3<\/strong> has stated that this new exhibition is the result of the restoration and museum work carried out both in the tower and its surroundings, a task whose main objective was the creation of a museum that would offer visitors detailed information on the origins and history of the municipality.<\/u>.<\/p>\n Among the works that the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante has carried out in the area are the archaeological excavation of some sectors<\/strong> which provided data of interest for the knowledge of the original construction, the development of the plot <\/strong>or the museumisation<\/strong> of the property<\/strong>. In this way, by means of a tour inside the tower, the public can get to know -through objects, images and various documents- aspects such as the customs and traditions of neighbours<\/strong> of the locality, its demographic development<\/strong>the etymological origin of its toponym<\/strong> or some historic events<\/strong> determinants.<\/p>\n The technical director of the archaeological museum Manuel Olcina <\/strong>and the local mayor Crist\u00f3bal Sala<\/strong> presented this morning this new exhibition that will remain at the Alicante centre. until next June<\/strong>. The event was also attended by the managing director of MARQ Francisco Sirvent <\/strong>and the curator of the exhibition Rafael P\u00e9rez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n International Day for Monuments and Sites<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The presentation of this exhibition is part of the events organised by MARQ on the occasion of the '...'.International Day for Monuments and Sites<\/strong>which will take place on next Friday 18 April<\/strong> and which includes, among its proposals, workshops for schoolchildren and drawing competitions.
