The Archaeological Museum of Alicante<\/strong> recovers with the publication \"Cova d'En Pardo<\/strong>.Archaeology in Memory<\/strong>\"The research work carried out in 1965 by the archaeologists Miquel Tarradell<\/strong>, Vicente Pascual<\/strong> and Enrique Llobregat<\/strong> in this Planes cavity. The volume is co-published by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Alicante and Alcoy City Council.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The president of the provincial institution Luisa Pastor<\/strong> presented the book this morning, accompanied by the Councillor for Cultural Heritage of Alcoy Francesc Xavier Blay<\/strong>the mayor of Planes and provincial deputy Javier Sendra<\/strong>the curator of Prehistory at the MARQ and coordinator of the publication Jorge Soler<\/strong>the technical director of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante Manuel Olcina<\/strong> and the director of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Alcoy Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Segura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The copy, which gives the results of excavations carried out in 1965, also includes a catalogue of the materials from this site housed in the Alcoy Museum.<\/strong>as well as the memory of the 14 study campaigns carried out by MARQ in the cavity.<\/strong> between 1993 and 2007 and which allowed the project initiated by Tarradell, Pascual and Llobregat to continue.<\/p>\n Luisa Pastor pointed out that this publication, conceived as the first report on the excavation of the site, recalls those early scholars, pioneers in the practice of archaeological research.<\/u>.<\/p>\n Through 318 pages<\/strong>the volume collects 15 chapters written by 13 specialists<\/strong> The excavations were carried out by the MARQ, the Museum of Prehistory of Valencia, the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Alcoy, the City Council of Cocentaina and the Universities of Alicante and Valencia, some of whom participated in the second cycle of excavations carried out.<\/p>\n Jorge Soler stressed that This publication remembers those people who, for whatever reason, were unable to finish their book. We have devoted a great deal of effort to reconstructing that excavation. A diary remains from the cave, which we have transcribed in the book and which, with our measurements, has allowed us to fully recover that work.<\/u>.<\/p>\n More than a hundred students<\/strong>from different Spanish and European universities have collaborated in recent years in the research work carried out in the Cova d'En Pardo<\/strong>A cave that was a refuge for Palaeolithic hunters, a cattle pen in the Neolithic period, a necropolis of multiple inhumation in the Eneolithic period and a corral in the 16th century.<\/p>\n The publication specifies the sediment sequences<\/strong> which cover the different archaeological levels of the Cova d'En Pardo, publishes the 27 radiocarbon dates<\/strong> The results of the studies carried out at the US laboratory in Veta, Florida, both on human and faunal bone sections and on sediments, present the latest material closing the cave<\/strong> and includes, as a new feature, the framing of the site in the entire landscape and a habitat<\/strong> that has been documented.<\/p>\n For his part, Francesc Xavier Blay stated that This is a very correct path in times of crisis in which different entities contribute to create or disseminate knowledge. The work of researchers who are reconstructing our past cannot remain on loan.
