Archaeology and History between two worlds\"."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style='text-align: justify; '><span style='text-align: justify; '>The Regional Archaeological Museum (MAR) of the Community of Madrid, based in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, opens this Friday, December 16, at<\/span><em style='text-align: justify; '><em>11:00 hrs. the exhibition <strong>\"711. Archaeology and History between two worlds\".<\/strong>.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify'>The central theme of this exhibition is the commemoration of the 1,300th anniversary of one of the crucial moments in the history of Spain and one that has given rise to most debate among historians and archaeologists: the occupation of Visigothic Hispania and the arrival of the Muslims on the Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p style='text-align: center; '><img alt='' src='\/contenido\/genericas\/Exposicion 711.jpg' style='width: 500px; height: 332px; ' \/><\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify'>Through various pieces from different museums in Spain and Portugal, the exhibition analyses change and also continuity in everyday life through archaeological remains.<\/p>\n<p style='text-align: justify'>The MARQ participates in this project with the temporary loan of a piece, a <em>tannur<\/em> A portable cooker from the archaeological excavation at Calle Curtidores in Elche (Alicante), which dates from the 10th-11th centuries.  It is a medium-sized ceramic piece used for baking bread. Due to its size and material, it was easy to handle and transport. It was a very useful piece for carrying fire and cooking to places where there were no ovens.
