Experimental Archéology and the general public
Dans le cadre du Programme européen Culture 2000, le projet REALITY a été mis en place en 2006-2007 sous la direction du Musée d'Archéologie ligure (Gênes, Italie). Selon les termes du contrat officiel (Europe Culture, Education Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, Bruxelles, contrat n° 2006-1024/001-001 CLT CA12), the project provides the public with an innovative opportunity to experience archaeological discoveries and aims at getting people actively involved, allowing them to see what life was like in Europe's past ages... Archaeological museums and sites cannot normally satisfy visitors' curiosities as they do not contain a real perception of the feelings and problems of European ancient inhabitants. Just as we do today, they had to face issues such as environnemental changes, migrations, cultural integrations, fights, social and technological transformations.... The project proposes a method of experimental archaeology that would be suitable for the general public and would illustrate a discourse on the social functioning of disparate communities.
