An exceptional Argaric burial site of San Antón (Orihuela, Alicante)
The results of the study carried out on a tomb from the Bronze Age site of San Antón (Orihuela, Alicante), excavated in the early years of the 20th century by the Jesuit priest Julio Furgús, are presented. It is one of the few tombs described in detail by its excavator, and stands out for the exceptional nature of its grave goods. The study carried out on the objects preserved - some of which had been considered missing until now - and the revision of the information published by Furgús in the light of the data provided by the archaeological interventions carried out in recent decades in other Argaric settlements in Alicante, such as Tabayá and Laderas del Castillo, now allow us to obtain a more precise image of this burial site and to open up new perspectives for research into the Argaric group of the Lower Segura.
