Death and spectacle in archaeology
Although funerary practices are the starting point of this text, its interest is centred on the social spectacle they manifest. The ceremonies and rituals that funeral practices express construct scenographies of death that involve two activities, without which it would be unthinkable to understand social reproduction: 1/ ceremonies, as a spectacle for the reproduction of memory and ideology, and 2/ rituals, as a mechanism for the inculcation of values that establish the subjectivity of the members of society with relevant effects on their behaviour and action.
