Chalcolithic mining and metallurgy in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. Towards an interconnected model
Recent works on the Chalcolithic period in the Iberian Peninsula emphasise a complexity and dynamism that forces us to rethink the current models of copper mining and metallurgy. This article will review the new archaeomineral evidence in the Guadalentín valley and the study of metallurgical residues from Chalcolithic settlements. The results will be related to the social transformations that took place during the 3rd millennium BC. These data will be used to construct a model for the historical interpretation of metallurgical production in accordance with the dynamism of social practices.
