Ivory, gold, buttons and ornaments in the eastern area of the El Argar country

V-shaped pierced buttons have traditionally been considered as a somewhat "intrusive" element in the Argaric artefactual repertoire. From a chronological point of view, their close link with the "bell-shaped phenomenon" led to a clear tendency to relate them exclusively to the earliest stages of the development of Argaric society. However, the data recently provided by the review of the excavations and the archaeological material of prehistoric chronology recovered between 1974 and 1985 in the Illeta dels Banyets in El Campello, allow us to reconsider the production and consumption of these objects within the Argaric society from both a spatial and chronological point of view.
