Las Canteras de Ferriol (Baix Vinalopó, Elche), a unique multidisciplinary historical research project.

This article presents an initial overview of the historical research carried out in the sierras that enclose the northern part of the municipality of Elche. The work carried out by geologists, topographers, archaeologists and historians corroborates the high density of open carving fronts and the long sequence of activity in the area, which has led to a major transformation of the landscape, most probably begun in the Iberian period, as the excavation of one of these fronts seems to show.
