La Torre Bombarda (l'Alfàs del Pi, Alicante)
The Bombarda tower is located at the northern end of the Serra Gelada, next to the lighthouse of l'Albir (l'Alfàs del Pi),
Alicante). It forms part of the coastal defence system that was in operation between the 16th and 19th centuries. At
2011 the Alfàs del Pi Town Council carried out a project to excavate and consolidate the tower, with the aim of stopping
the process of degradation to which the structure was subjected. It was in a very poor state of preservation, as only
The lower plinth is preserved. However, the archaeological intervention provided the floor plan of the structure and
sufficient data to know its architectural characteristics. Photogrammetric documentation has made it possible to
to carry out a virtual reconstruction of the tower and get an idea of what it might have looked like on the outside before it was destroyed.
