The medieval town of Ifach (Calpe, Alicante): City and feudal power in the light of archaeological discoveries (2005-2012)
Under the slopes of the imposing Peñón de Ifach, in Calp (Alicante), lie the remains of the medieval village of Ifach,
a city founded at the end of the 13th century by Roger de Llúria, Admiral of the Crown of Aragon, which is currently undergoing a
since 2005, of a research project led by the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), with the support of
of the Diputación de Alicante, the Calp Town Council and the Consellería de Infraestructures, Territori i Medi Ambient de la
Generalitat Valenciana. The aim of this project is to investigate and study in depth the way in which the settlement
feudal system at the time of the creation of the Kingdom of Valencia.
