The virtual restitution project of the Greek and Roman city of Empúries

This paper presents the virtual restitution project of the Greek and Roman city of Emporion/Emporiae (Empúries, l'Escala, Alt Empordà, Girona province), as well as the creation of a demo developed on it, corresponding to the Hellenistic sanctuary of Isis and Serapis documented in the Neapolis sector of the Greek city. The project includes a virtual tour of the different units into which the Neapolis and the Roman city of Empúries have been divided, with interactive elements that explain their most significant characteristics and with references to the current reality of the remains through the incorporation of panoramic photographs. The implementation of this project will facilitate the creation of various dissemination resources (information points in the field, fixed information points in the museum, the creation of a virtual reality room in the museum, the publication of a CD Rom and information on the Internet).KeywordsEmpúries, Greek city, Roman city, virtual restitution, panoramic photographs, dissemination of archaeological heritage.
