The MARQ in 2007. The culmination of a Museum project of international scope.

After winning the European Museum of the Year Award in 2004 in the competition held in Athens by the European Museum Forum, the MARQ entered the international museum circuit. Staying on this circuit requires the continuous assumption of challenges and proposals. Without losing sight of the provincial environment to which it belongs, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante carries out an intense activity. In 2007, five years after the inauguration of the MARQ, the Museum celebrated its 75th anniversary, hosted the European Museum of the Year Award, participated in European projects, organised conferences and congresses, and hosted exhibitions as a result of cultural relations established with other museums and international institutions such as the British Museum and the Soprintendenza de Pompei.
