Archaeology of the fortification of the coast of Alicante in medieval and modern times. The case of the defensive system of Calp
This paper deals with the interesting case of the walled enclosure of Calp (Alicante), a defensive system built in medieval times, of which the layout and a good part of the remains of its walls, towers and fortifications are still preserved. This system was modified at the beginning of the 16th century, coinciding with the plans proposed by the Duke of Calabria in 1534, where a series of defences were incorporated that we can place within what are defined as pre-bastioned fortifications.
