LAMP
Bronze
Dāniya. Madīna. Carrer del Historiador Palau
Fragmented and deformed lamp. Cup-shaped, with two of the three zoomorphic legs on the rim for hanging and a ring at the base with perforations for the arms to support the lamps. The body is openwork with incised decoration of leaves and grapes. Made in the lost-wax technique. This lamp has clear precedents among those from Egypt, as does its openwork decoration with vegetal motifs similar to those found on tenth-century Coptic-style incense burners and incense burners. This type of lamp is absent from the 11th-century sites of ancient Palestine, such as Caesarea and Tiberias. It is unique in al-Andalus. Chronology. 10th century. Dimensions. Approximate rim diameter: 26.00 cm. Height: 21.00 cm. RAR
