Once again this year, with the LIGHTING OF THE TREE, MARQ congratulates all the people of Alicante and visitors to the city on the Christmas holidays. This is the traditional starting point of the campaign of activities organised by our Foundation for children and families, including educational workshops, theatre, etc., as well as the Tree of Dreams in collaboration with CaixaBank and the La Caixa Foundation, and our participation with our own stand at Exponadal at the IFA-Alicante fairgrounds. 

 

Christmas programme that will start on the afternoon of Tuesday 2 December with different activities for the whole family to participate in with our mascot Llumiq, accompanied by some friendly friends to laugh, dance and enjoy, as well as traditional music and popular Christmas carols, workshops, games, the chestnut tree, drawing competition... and many more surprises.

CHRISTMAS DRAWING COMPETITION

This Christmas, we invite you to be inspired by a special piece from the exhibition Dénia. Archaeology and Museum:Sultana box chrome by Viriato Ernesto Oliver Bennet.
This chromo, made with paper, inks and golden filigree, shows a a young lady in a floral dresssurrounded by a gold frame and flowers such as roses, poppies and lilies, with delicate openwork and golden tip.

Your challenge: create in the template we will give you your own chromeinspired by this work.

We will choose a winner from all the participantswhich will receive a set of gifts.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

This holiday season, come to MARQ to discover the history of Dénia while you have fun creating! Every workshop combines the Christmas spirit with the new temporary exhibition "Dénia. Archaeology and Museum"..

Creativity and lots of imagination to learn through play.

23 December - 10:30 a.m.
Workshop "Doll".
In this workshop, participants will be able to create their own articulated doll inspired by the piece of the Dénia doll in the exhibition. Through stencils, colouring and cut-out pieces, each person will shape a figure that imitates the original design preserved in the Dénia workshop. It is a creative activity where you can learn about this traditional toy while working on your imagination and manual dexterity.

 

26 December - 10:30 a.m.
Safa de la Nau" workshop
We will decorate a "tote bag". with the image of this Andalusian pottery decorated in green and manganese, representing a medieval ship - perfect for lovers of the sea and history!


30 December - 10:30 a.m.
Workshop "Sultana box chrome"
We will design a chromo inspired by an elegant lady in a floral dress, framed by an exuberant golden ornamental ensemble. A workshop full of colour and fantasy.

 

2 January - 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Train Journey" workshop
In this workshop we will make a cut-out model of the train on display in the exhibition about Dénia. The participants will be able to assemble step by step this wonderful historical toy, understanding its shapes and details while they enjoy building their own version on paper. A perfect activity to discover, play and take home a little piece of the exhibition.

EXPONADAL

MARQ will have its own space at the IFA (Institución Ferial Alicantina) Christmas children's and young people's leisure fair, which this year will be held from 26 to 30 December 2025 and from 2 to 4 January 2026. There we will be organising games, entertainment and workshops to promote the educational offer of the Museum and its sites.
