A 1st century A.D. drainage (Tossal de Manises-Lucentum, Alacant): what the plant remains have to tell us (2021)

The results of the study of the archaeobotanical remains of a deposit excavated in a drainage area of the Roman municipality of Lucentum, and their contextualisation at the end of the 1st century AD, are presented. Despite the scarcity of the remains, and the paucity of data from the Valencian archaeobotanical record for the Roman period, this work shows the possibilities that this type of analysis offers as another element for approaching the history of the communities that have inhabited this territory throughout history, allowing us to put forward hypotheses in the socio-economic sphere which future research should investigate in greater depth.
