ARCHAEOSCIENCES

SCIENCE AND AQRCHAEOLOGY
Archaeology is about the search for knowledge of ourselves through the study of the remains of our past. The findings of pieces in an archaeological intervention need to be interpreted in order to explain different questions. This requires the collaboration of a series of disciplines specialised in different subjects, which extract the maximum information. These include those related to man's activities such as Ceramology (ceramics) or Numismatics (coins), the environment in which he lived such as Dendrochronology or Palaeomagnetism (dating methods), and the surrounding landscape such as Archaeozoology (animals) or Palynology (pollen), or the characteristics of man, his family relationships and his illnesses such as Physical Anthropology. All of them constitute modern, interdisciplinary archaeology.
