ROMAN DUMPLUM WORKSHOP
.jpg)
Duplum molendinun" is a Roman board game, somewhat similar to our "Tic-tac-toe". But duplum was more complex than our Tic-tac-toe, as it used more counters and had more line options. It was played on a board, which could be made of clay or wood, furrowed with lines connected to each other to form squares (3 concentric squares, i.e. one inside the other). At first glance, the lines and squares give the appearance of a labyrinth. Two opponents played with tokens or "calculi" of different colours (black/white, red/white, etc ...). The rules could vary, i.e. two or more different games could be played with the same board. That's why we suggest that you make your own Roman game board and then follow the "rules of the game" that we propose. And if you have a lot of imagination, you can make up your own rules and create other games using the same board.
