TEACHER TRAINING DAYS

Educational itinerary "The Byzantine province of Spania"

The aim of this conference is to introduce teachers to the contents of the exhibition ".Trousseaus for eternity"currently on display in the foyer of the MARQ Archaeological Museum of Alicante. This small corner, destined to exhibit singular pieces of Alicante archaeology, is proposed as an area of diffusion for new discoveries in research.

On this occasion, the group presented is related to the Cabezo del Molino site, located in the present-day municipality of Rojales, as this is one of the first sites in the province of Alicante where the presence of a population from the Byzantine period (6th-7th centuries AD) has been confirmed. A large necropolis or burial area has been located here, which is also recognised as one of the first manifestations of Christian communities in the rural world.

The presence of imperial troops from the Eastern Mediterranean in our lands was unknown until today, which is why this training course is an extraordinary opportunity to delve into a little-known period of history, with the participation of the leading experts on the subject on the Peninsula.
