Phases of the Eastern Wall

The towers of the first phase of the wall housed the artillery, as can be seen in this reconstruction of towers VI and VIII, which shows a section of the latter with the catapults or "catapults". ballistae

The projectiles that would have launched the catapults have been found in the excavations. Petrographic analyses indicate that they are made of andesite, a volcanic stone that outcrops in the area around Cartagena, which is probably why they were found in the excavations. Lucentum The Punic capital would be supplied with this ammunition.
