The exhibition dedicates an important space to the War against the French at the beginning of the 19th century, when the city of Alicante and its fortress of Santa Bárbara on Mount Benacantil represented an important defensive line against the invader, which was soon joined by the bastion of San Fernando, built on Mount Tossal in homage to the captive monarch Fernando VII, whose designs are kept in the General Military Archive in Madrid and are presented in this exhibition for the first time.

In the Sala Noble of the Library, the exhibition takes visitors on an archaeological journey with pieces from the MARQ and other museums through the history of wine cultivation and production in Alicante, from the vats and wine presses of Illeta dels Banyets (El Campello) and l'Alt de Benimàquia (Dènia) to the Roman potteries where wine amphorae were made in l'Almadrava (Els Poblets), and the medieval tools and jars with which wine was collected, stored and transported from ports such as Alicante, which was of great importance as a gateway for our wines to the world.
