The trade
The materials found at Illeta reveal extensive trade relations with other parts of the Mediterranean.

Through the ceramics we can glimpse the different influences that coexisted in this small enclave.
Pieces of Greek origin from the 5th and 4th centuries BC have been found in the Illeta:

Punic-Ebusitan ceramics from Ibiza

Punic Ceramics
Fragments of Etruscan amphorae, from Magna Graecia...

And Iberian ceramics
Amphorae were in ancient times the container par excellence for maritime transport, as the curvature of their base allows them to adapt to the shape of ships.
Fragments of amphorae from all the sources described above have been found at La Illeta, but there are also some pottery kilns from the Iberian period on the coast that were used to make amphorae for packaging the products produced at the site.

Writing was a very useful element for commercial relations. The medium used in the Illeta to send messages was the pottery itself. Numerous examples have been found, written in different alphabets.
