INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY
MARQ DIM 2022 PROGRAMMING
"The power of museums".
With the slogan: "The the power of museums".International Museum Day, proposed by ICOM, aims to show us in 2022 how museums have the power to transform the world around us. How these "incomparable places of discovery and knowledge" teach us about our past and open our minds to new ideas, two essential steps towards building a better future. In the face of such an uncertain present, full of confrontation and armed conflict, the proposal is none other than to present museums as points of encounter, dialogue, inclusion and peaceful coexistence.
MARQ will focus these days on getting to know our past, that of our province, but also that of other cultures and civilisations, such as the Iron Age castreña with the opening of the exhibition "The Atlantic Warrior", in collaboration with the National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal. We will also learn about a very important aspect of Roman civilisation with the international exhibition "Gladiators. Heroes of the Coliseum", bringing us closer to the exciting world of the Gladiators, all with different accessibility resources such as easy reading, 3D reproductions, Sign Language, Braille, etc., which make it accessible to all types of public and, especially, to people with disabilities.
For this reason, we have prepared a varied programme of free activities that includes animated visits, educational workshops, storytelling and historical recreations in collaboration with the "Hispania Romana" Association, which will allow us to discover our past in a closer and more playful way. We will also count on the participation of local and provincial Associations and Institutions related to people with disabilities and social responsibility that are part of the MARQ family. The Roman matron had to groom and dress appropriately, the more influential her household was, and especially at public events, where she was to appear alongside the paterfamilias. For this purpose, she had a wide range of tools and products for her hygiene and beauty, as well as one or more specialist slaves who were called ornatrix. General public. MARQ Gardens.
