We inform you of the start of the first Teacher Training Days planned for this school year 2025-26, with the TRAINING ITINERARY: "Prehistory through cave art and the legacies of the MARQ".
This conference aims to bring teachers closer to the contents of the project. "Prehistory through Rock Art and MARQ's heritage collection: The museum as a tool to achieve historical-artistic skills".The project is the result of collaboration between the MARQ Foundation, the DICSO Research Group of the University of Murcia and La Foia Secondary School (Ibi).
The aim of this educational project is to encourage the development of historical thinking in students through the historical and heritage sources offered by the MARQ. In this context, the museum is positioned as a crucial educational agent in the formation of historical thinking. Archaeological heritage provides various opportunities to promote learning linked to procedural content. The manipulative and experimental nature of archaeology becomes a fundamental tool for achieving meaningful teachings that connect students with the historical fact.
Rock art, as a cultural manifestation of prehistoric societies, offers a unique window into the understanding of the life and thoughts of our ancestors. Through rock paintings and engravings, students will be able to explore the creativity, beliefs and daily practices of the communities that inhabited our territory. This contact with rock art not only enriches their historical knowledge, but also fosters aesthetic sensitivity and the value of cultural heritage.
We are convinced that the appreciation, respect and knowledge of Historical and Artistic Heritage must arise from the collaboration between different educational agents. For this reason, it is essential to establish a close relationship between educational centres and cultural institutions, as has been shown in this project. In order for pupils to develop attitudes of respect for heritage from an early age, it is essential that they become familiar with their closest legacy, discovering it and, therefore, appreciating it. Visits to the museum, archaeological sites and monuments allow schoolchildren to establish direct contact with historical sources.
