“KNUCKLE BONES” DRAWING COMPETITION.

Knuckle Bones Drawing Competition Each year MARQ dedicates the summer holidays to young people, and this year is no exception with a new exciting programme of events to take visitors on a journey to Ancient Greece! There will be fun and interesting activities where you will learn about the different aspects of Greek life: their art, sport, everyday life, games, gods and myths…..

One of the star activities of this summer is the “KNUCKLE BONES” DRAWING COMPETITION. Here you can prove your creativity and imagination by becoming “Greek Sculptures”. You have to “reconstruct” one of the incomplete sculptures which is on display in MARQ’s galleries, imagining what it would have originally looked like. We will give you a clue …. the sculpture is of two children playing a game of knucklebones. Now it is up to you!

There are two age groups:
- 8 to 10 years
- 11 to 14 years

The first prize for each age group is sponsored by The CAJAMURCIA bank.
The prizes are:

- a weekend in a hotel in La Manga, in the Mar Menor for the winner and his/her family and also,
- a trip to the Roman theatre in Cartagena for the winner’s class at school

You can hand in your pictures from 30th June until 28th August in MARQ. And similar to the great artists, who we know you are just like, all your pictures will be displayed in the museum. The best pictures will have a special place of honour, just like the ancient Greek athletes, published in the Llumiq Club magazine and in La Tiza.
So, when are the winners announced? Well, the new school term starts in the middle of September, and then we will celebrate together the prize giving in MARQ.

This summer you can also, if you haven’t already done so with your school or college, visit the exhibitions: “The Body Beautiful. Art and Thought in Ancient Greece” and “Greek Traces in Iberian Contestania”. Almost 3,000 pupils have already enjoyed visiting this exhibition in the past few months - especially the Discobolus and the Iberian Agost Sphinxes. To help you understand the exhibitions better, two guides have been produced by the learning team in MARQ with information and activities. These also let us test you on your knowledge and you can gain points to receive the OLIVE CROWN, the maximum prize of an athlete.

Oh, we nearly forgot! All those who take part in the summer activities in the museum will receive a special discus which the Cajamurcia bank has made for you so that you can become a Discobolus (or discus thrower) just like thousands of pupils who have already visited MARQ so far.

Com cada any, el MARQ dedicarà aquest període estival als nostres amics més joves amb una proposta apassionant: un viatge emocionant a la Grècia Antiga! Us hi avancem que hi haurà activitats interessants on podràs aprendre molts aspectes de la vida dels grecs: art, esport, vida quotidiana, jocs, déus, mites…

Una de les activitats principals d'aquest estiu és el CONCURS DE DIBUIX: “LES TABES” perquè poseu a prova la vostra creativitat i imaginació ja que us convertireu en “escultors grecs”. Haureu de “recompondre” una de les escultures incompletes que s'exhibeixen en les sales del MARQ i l’haureu d’imaginar en la seua composició original. Et donem una pista: l'escena estava formada per dos xiquets que jugaven a les tabes i… fins aquí puc llegir…!

Aquest concurs té dos nivells:
- 8 a 10 anys.
- 11 a 14 anys.
Està dotat amb un primer premi per a cada franja d'edat patrocinat per Caja Murcia i que consisteix en:
- Un cap de setmana en un hotel de la Mànega del Mar Menor per al guanyador o guanyadora i els seus pares, i a més,
- Una excursió al teatre romà de Cartagena per a la classe del Centre Educatiu en què estiga matriculat el guanyador o la guanyadora.

Podreu presentar els vostres dibuixos a partir del 30 de juny i fins al 28 d'agost al MARQ. I com els grans artistes que n’estem segurs que sou, els vostres treballs s’exposaran al museu. El millor de vosaltres tindrà un lloc d'honor, com els atletes grecs antics, en la revista del Club Llumiq i en La Tiza.
Què? Quan sabreu qui és el guanyador? Doncs amb la tornada al col•le, a mitjan setembre, i després celebrarem tots junts al MARQ el lliurament dels premis.

Aquest estiu també podràs, si no ho has fet ja amb el teu col•legi o institut, visitar l'exposicions “La Bellesa del Cos. Art i Pensament en la Grècia Antiga” i “ Empremtes gregues en la Contestània Ibera”. Prop de 3.000 alumnes ja han gaudit en aquests dos mesos, de les seues peces magnífiques, entre elles el Discòbol i les Esfinxs iberes d'Agost. Perquè pugues comprendre millor el contingut de les exposicions el Gabinet Didàctic del MARQ ha elaborat dos guies amb informació i activitats que fins i tot us permeten avaluar-vos vosaltres mateixos i aconseguir la màxima puntuació per a rebre LA CORONA D'OLIVERA, que és el màxim guardó d'un atleta.

Ah! Ho oblidàvem! Tots els participants en la campanya d'estiu del museu rebran un disc que Cajamurcia ha creat per a vosaltres i convertir-vos en un Discòbol, com ho han fet els milers d'alumnes que han visitat fins al moment el MARQ.
